Physical copies of Stardew Valley are headed to retail stores later this year, thanks to a new deal between ConcernedApe and 505 Games, featuring all of the post-launch content and fixes implemented in the year since Stardew Valley first popped up on Steam.
Details on the retail release are still surprisingly scarce. There’s a new trailer, celebrating the news that Stardew Valley is getting printed to discs, but no word on when we can expect the physical copies to hit store shelves. The closest 505 Games comes to offering a launch window is to say it’ll be available in early 2017. But the rest of the three-minute promotional clip is just Stardew Valley gameplay that longtime players will already be familiar with.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like there will be any new surprises for those who decided to pick up a physical copy of Stardew Valley. We certainly didn’t expect any substantial additions to the game that wouldn’t also be available to digital game owners, but it’s always nice to see small bits of new content (like alternate costumes) added to physical releases of hit indie games.
For another look at Stardew Valley, take a few minutes to watch the new retail release trailer from 505 Game and ConcernedApe. Then head down to the comments section and let us know if you’re planning to buy a physical copy of Stardew Valley when it hits stores later this year.
Stardew Valley is currently available for download on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Physical versions of the PS4 and Xbox One ports will head to retail stores in early 2017.
