In a recent interview with OnMSFT, Cyberpunk 2077 producer John Mamais explained that Night City will be filled with Street Stories to encourage players to explore the world. Earlier it was learned that Cyberpunk 2077 will have different types of main missions. Street Stories, on the other hand, add character to the world of Cyberpunk 2077, making players feel they are a part of a living Night City.
In the interview, Mamais explored how the team at CD Projekt Red approached the open world of Cyberpunk 2077. Unlike The Witcher 3, in Cyberpunk 2077 the developers want players to encounter interesting stories and events in the vast open world of Night City.
"There’s a couple of layers. There’s a passive layer, which are the vendors, then there’s the STSs, which are the Street Stories," Mamais explained in the interview. "There’s around 75 Street Stories [and] then there’s minor activities as well. The Street Stories are like little quests. There’s story, but there’s not, like, advanced cinematic storytelling sequences so much. They’re a way to explore the world and level up your character."
Mamais also elaborated, saying that Street Stories are going to use certain templates, but all of them are customized to offer a unique experience.
It soulds like Street Stories are going to be different from side missions found in The Witcher 3. Although side-missions are going to be a part of Cyberpunk 2077, Street Stories might be events that play out in the world, such as revealing more information or specific locations in the world. Street Stories may also guide players toward collectibles, or mini-games.
