Stronghold: Warlords is finally available on Steam. The game is part of the Strongholds franchise and offers a new way to play the game.
The game was originally set to be released in September 2020 but delayed due to the pandemic. It was scheduled for release on January 26, 2021, however, got delayed again due to issues with the game’s multiplayer aspect.
The game offers a total of 31 mission campaigns from 300 BC China and all the way to 16th century Japan, showing a wide period in history the game covers. Players can expect to meet legendary figures like Genghis Khan or even lesser-known ones like Thuc Phan.
This latest addition to the franchise has something for everyone, from new players to longtime fans. There’s the single-player campaign that’s sure to test a player’s skills. Then, there's the Free Build mode where players can experience complete freedom to build castles. Players can call on friends for some online multiplayer action or player with AI for offline skirmishes.
New Game Mechanics
Stronghold: Warlords is introducing a new game mechanic to the franchise called the Warlords system. This lets players command, conquer, and even order the AI “warlords.” The Pig or Ox Warlord, for example, can be commanded to buff a player’s industry or food reserves. Those looking for a bit of action can choose to have either the Dragon Warlord or Tiger Warlord. They can give special units or even launch attacks against enemies. It’s all up to how players want to play the game.
