The Pokémon Company International announced a brand new mobile game coming to Japan in 2016.
According to Serebii, the Pokémon Company, in collaboration with HEROZ, a development team known for building AI for chess and backgammon games, this new Pokémon mobile game is described as a strategy board game when you collect virtual figures. Each figure will have their own unique attributes and you can make a deck with to try and defeat your opponent.
Here’s the trailer released by the Pokémon Company.
Pokémon Comaster (or Koma Star) will be a one-player game but will have online play and will be free to play. And like many free-to-play mobile games, there will be some in-game purchases you can shell out real money for.
The new mobile game is set to release on iOS and Android in Spring 2016 over in Japan. There has been no news regarding a Western release but a Summer 2016 release is very likely for Pokémon Comaster.
This isn’t the first Pokémon game coming to mobile devices. The popular Nintendo 3DS game, Pokémon Shuffle made the move to mobile months after its initial release and The Pokémon Company seems to be adopting Nintendo’s desire to move its properties to mobile devices.
Not to mention, Pokémon GO! is still set to release in 2016 that will combine augmented reality and gameplay to make anyone with a mobile device a Pokémon trainer.
