A new international trailer for Ghostbusters is out and gives us a longer look at some scenes from the first trailer. The new Ghostbusters trailer features some extra footage of Chris Hemsworth with his Ozzie accent a-twangin’ and a whole new scene of the Ghostbusters crew at a rock concert, where Leslie Jones has something rather pointed to say. Watch the new Ghostbusters trailer below:
“OK, I don’t know if it was a race thing or a lady thing, but I’m mad as hell,” Jones shouts in the trailer after her attempt to crowdsurf falls flat -- with her literally landing flat on her back on the concrete.
The Ghostbusters trailer debuted to highly mixed reactions and currently stands at 44% likes on YouTube. Predictably, search results for Ghostbusters are littered with pained thinkpieces debating whether or not it’s OK not to like it alongside spirited defenses . Judging from comments on Youtube and Twitter, women possess cooties so overpowering they have the power to tarnish sacred childhood memories, destroy the purity of the original Ghostbusters movie and probably literally kill people. But is it, as some have argued, racist too ?
Not according to Jones herself, who argued passionately in defense of the film and her role in it on Twitter:
Why can't a regular person be a ghostbuster. Im confused. And why can't i be the one who plays them i am a performer. Just go see the movie!

Regular People save the world everyday so if I'm the sterotype!! Then so be it!! We walk among Heroes and take them for granted.

I'm playing a hardworking woman. The regular one that rep the people. You guys are the racists by labeling her a lowly MTA worker. Not me
— Leslie Jones (@Lesdoggg) March 7, 2016
But this role I'm a MTA worker.people I'm an actor I play everyone.Y'all are the ones making this bad.So next time I'll be a Minion.Ok?!
— Leslie Jones (@Lesdoggg) March 7, 2016
Jones also reposted a heartfelt letter from an MTA worker before concluding a few days later:
I think today will be the day I get rid of Twitter. Gonna really be thinking on it. Not sure I want to need it anymore. Know what I mean?

Director Paul Feig leapt to Jones’ support, tweeting , “ You are a goddess & one of the warmest funniest forces of nature I know. F--- the haters. And haters, attack me all you want but when you attack and insult my cast, you've crossed the line. Grow up and leave my cast alone."
