Surviving a post-apocalyptic world is already difficult but what happens when you must keep hope alive? You get the chance to test that out in the latest expansion for Surviving the Aftermath. In Shattered Hope, the world is expanded even further with the introduction of a calamity and the addition of the ability to boost resource production and of course, maintaining the hope of the survivors.
This is the second expansion for the game, and it’s priced at $9.99. It’s available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
In Shattered Hope, the moon has been destroyed and the pieces have started to descend to the surface of the Earth. There is a silver lining, however, in the form of moon rock deposits. These can be gathered and used to increase resource production. In this expansion, the survivors need to come together and find hope so that they can persevere, or be plagued by anguish.
Enjoy a New Mechanic
To make the most out of the calamity, players can use the moonfall to their advantage with the new Building Boost mechanic. Gather moon rock deposits and refine them to obtain lunar dust. These can then be used to increase the production of buildings, but for a limited time. This new building boost mechanic is called overtime.
Don’t Keep it too Low
The expansion introduces Hope as a new global value. It decreases over time and when it becomes too low, it triggers a new condition known as anguish among survivors. If left untreated, it can turn colonists hostile.
One way to make sure that hope is kept as high is to have feasts at the new colony square building.
Recover Faster
As mentioned, when hope is too low the colonists will experience anguish. To ease their suffering, players need to build a trauma center to let them heal. They’re going to recover faster with the help of a new medicine called antistress.
To make antistress, players need to grow raw resources on their mushroom farm. After that, they need to refine it into an actual medicine at the med hut building.
The new expansion arrives with a free update, which introduces balancing adjustments, quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and new visuals. Check out the new update here.
