The classic action RPG Tales of Symphonia is getting an enhanced version on February 17, 2023. Tales of Symphonia Remastered is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. For those with next-gen consoles, it’s compatible with both PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S.
In the game, players follow Lloyd Irving and his friends as they go on an adventure with an emotionally charged storyline, filled with a lot of unforgettable characters. It’s set in the Sylvarant, a dying world and in need of a constant source of mana. However, there is a legend that says a Chosen One is going to appear and help restore and regenerate the world.
Tales of Symphonia Remastered is going to offer players inspired anime cutscenes along with endearing characters. They can also enjoy the unique art style originally designed by renowned artist Kosuke Fujishima.
The game has players explore Sylvarant where they take on powerful foes and fight to bring back the world from the brink of destruction. There are hundreds of attacks and magic combinations available at players’ disposal in real-time battles. There’s also a “couch co-op” local multiplayer for up to four players.
Making a Remaster
In a post, the team at Bandai Namco revealed that fans of Tales of Symphonia had long been asking for the game to be available on modern platforms. While it is not the first game in the Tales series, it was chosen because it inspired and informed future titles in the series while also being a fan-favorite experience.
For those wanting more, the team shared that while they appreciate the enthusiasm of many fans to experience the series on modern platforms, for now, they’re simply focusing on Tales of Symphonia Remastered.
For this version, players can look forward to crisper and sharper in-game visuals, and enhanced character models and environments like the town and the overworld.
Expect to experience improved controls when navigating the Elemental Cargo ship. Other enhancements include skipping events and cutscenes, additional save screen information, and minor quality-of-life improvements.
