Ubisoft Forward: A Recap Of All The Games From Yesterday's Event

Ubisoft Forward
Ubisoft Forward Ubisoft

Ubisoft Forward took place yesterday, and it was amazing. The best part about Ubisoft's pre-recorded E3 stand-in show was that we actually saw some gameplay rather than just a bunch of cinematic trailers. The online event gave us a good look at several of Ubisoft's upcoming games. Some were announcements for big titles like Watch Dogs Legion, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Far Cry 6, while other news was related to small titles like Brawlhalla and Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad. Below is a small rundown of all the new titles revealed during the event.

Watch Dogs Legion

While everyone was excited about Valhalla or Far Cry 6, I was actually more interested in Watch Dogs Legion. The game was supposed to launch this past March. However, after the negative reception of Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the game was delayed, which seems like the smart choice. Legion is in a much better place because of it. The game looks more polished and detailed. I especially love the feature where you can play as any character you want. However, I am still worried if these characters will have any actual depth or not.

PS: Please don’t downgrade this Ubisoft.

Brawlhalla

Ok, this is not exactly a new title. Brawlhalla is a free-to-play 2D fighting game that was released back in 2017. The announcement made yesterday was about the upcoming Android and iOS ports for the game. Brawlhalla will launch on smartphones on August 6. That’s not all, as the game will have complete cross-play support. Brawlhalla is already available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, macOS, and Switch. Ubisoft also revealed that there are over 40 million users, so you should have no trouble finding a match.

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad

Elite Squad is a weird mash-up of several of Ubisoft’s IP. The game will feature characters from Rainbow Six Siege, Ghost Recon, and more. The trailer showed us Caveira and Montagne from Siege and El Sueño, the antagonist from Ghost Recon: Wildlands. The game will launch on iOS and Android devices and will be available on August 27. You can also pre-register the game and receive an exclusive reward: a Tier 2 weapon for Montagne.

Hyper Scape

Its official guys, Ubisoft is also getting involved in the Battle Royale business. Hyper Scape is Ubisoft’s take on the mainstream genre. The game will be free-to-play and will be available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. No information about a next-gen port was provided, however, I would expect it eventually. Hyper Scape will have extensive support with the streaming service Twitch. Viewers can influence each match with special modes like infinite ammo or a low-gravity mode. PC players can play the game right now, as Hyper Scape is currently in Open Beta on Uplay. All you have to do is open Uplay and start downloading the game.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

This is the title most users were waiting for, and thankfully Ubisoft didn’t pull a bamboozle like before. We actually saw a good amount of actual gameplay during the online event. The trailer gave us a good look at the combat and some other game mechanics. You play as both Male and Female characters, and can also change between them anytime you want. You can dual wield several types of weapons, and in the trailer I saw Eivor dual-wielding two hammers and at one point, two shields. You can also mix and match if you like. Ubisoft also showed us the leaked 30-minute long gameplay video from a week ago, confirming the leak's authenticity. Valhalla will launch on November 17 for PC, Stadia, PS4, and Xbox One. A next-gen port will release later.

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 was supposed to be a surprise announcement by Ubisoft, but the leaks kind of ruined that. The next installment of the Far Cry franchise was showed at the end of the event. We saw a cinematic trailer that introduced us to the game's antagonist, Anton Castillo, and his son, Diego. No actual gameplay was shown, but we did get a confirmation on the release date. Far Cry 6 will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Stadia. The game is already available for purchase with a special pre-order bonus. Far Cry 6 will launch on February 18, 2021, however, with how things are going nowadays, a delay would not be surprising.

So what do you think? Are you interested in any of these games? Was there any other game you were looking forward to that wasn’t shown? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
