According to yet another leak from the GameStop Conference 2019, Disney is getting to ready to unveil the Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King collection, which will feature HD remasters of two of the most beloved video games of the 90s. Sega Genesis' Aladdin (1993) and the SNES version of The Lion King (1994) will soon be made available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Back in the 90s, folks went crazy over licensed video-game/Hollywood tie-ins, and Disney managed to release a handful of truly memorable titles. Among these was Aladdin for Sega Genesis which launched back in 1993 - a masterpiece of its time - and The Lion King, which launched for the Super Nintendo in 1994.
Now, a new generation will be able to experience the joy of these titles through the Disney Classic Games collection, which features an HD remastered edition of both. Apart from the updated graphics, folks can expect new features that better appeal to modern gamers. From what we know so far, the remastered editions of these games include instant saves, interactive game viewing, and a rewind button that'll undo the last 15 seconds of gameplay.
Additionally, the Disney Classic Games collection will be bundled with even more content, including what Disney calls a "trade show demo" and unreleased "final cut" of Aladdin that hasn't been seen since the year the original game first came out. The Collection will also include a music player, interactive art gallery, and behind-the-scenes interviews about the game. Aladdin and The Lion King both came in a number of different game versions, but the collection will include the Sega Genesis, Super Game Boy, and Game Boy editions of both games, as well as the SNES edition of The Lion King.
The Disney Classic Games collection is being developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Nighthawk Interactive. Digital Eclipse is known for its work on the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, so they're pretty experienced with celebrating old video games, and Nighthawk Interactive is the publisher that brought us favorites like Enter The Gungeon and Friday The 13th: The Game. With a development team like this behind the Disney remastered collection, things are looking good for Aladdin and The Lion King.
