Good news for Xbox One players! The Chaos Wastes expansion for Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is arriving on the platform for free on June 3. It’s also available for the Xbox Series X/S.
The expansion had already been released on PC back in April. For PlayStation 4 players, their version is a little late but will be released in the same month.
In a press statement, Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund said that they are more than happy to bring this expansion to consoles and it’s going to be free for everyone.
The Story So Far
So what is this expansion all about? Players are tasked to reach the Citadel of Eternity but the catch is only those pure at heart can finish the journey. That’s because only true pilgrims can make their way across the unpredictable region. In addition, players need to go back to basics to survive the journey, meaning no fancy or hard-earned armor.
New Features
There are many new features from the new expansion including:
- Pilgrim’s Coins
- There are unique coins available that can be traded for weapons or to earn favor from the gods.
- Chest of Trial
- Those looking for extra challenges while on the journey can look for rare Chests of Trials. Opening the chest attracts the attention of a rather monstrous foe. Players must defeat this foe to claim the reward.
- Shrines
- All around the Chaos Wastes are uncorrupted shrines. Players can seek the favor of gods to get Miracles and Boons. However, you can’t get them without a sacrifice.
- Waystone Altars
- These are stashes of weapons stored by previous pilgrims. They can be accessed by using Pilgrim’s Coins and the more coins demanded, the more powerful the weapon inside.
- Potions
- There are a lot of mysterious potions scattered on the road to the Citadel.
The Fifth Player
Finally, the new expansion now allows Twitch Integration. This is a good way for players to have their audience join the adventure and even vote on what’s going to happen next.
