Wasteland 3 developer InXile Entertainment has confirmed that it has taken hackers so seriously that it has dedicated a secret ending just for hackers.
Wasteland 3 is a role-playing game set in a post-apocalyptic frozen Colorado. The game has received mostly positive reviews on Steam, thanks to its great gameplay and storytelling. Wasteland 3 can take anywhere between 50-60 hours for anyone to legitimately beat the game. However, if someone hacks and manipulates the game files, there's a secret ending waiting for them at the end.
InXile Entertainment Studio Head Brian Fargo took to Twitter to announce that Wasteland 3 has many ending states, adding to its replayability value. However, Fargo also mentioned that one of those multiple endings also includes a special ending for hackers.
Fargo also stated that he has been notified that several players have already found the hacker ending. However, so far nobody has come forward to share the ending on the internet.
This isn't the first time that games have trolled hackers. Other games like Titanfall 2, Max Payne 3, and Crysis: Warhead have also taken their chances at humiliating pirates and cheaters.
Recent games like Valorant have also taken a unique approach to deal with cheaters and hackers. Valorant has some serious anti-cheat programs implemented in the game. However, if a hacker somehow manages to get around the anti-cheat program, they receive the following message: "Protected by packman, a Riot Games product. Developed with <3 by the Anti-Cheat team. We're always hiring talented individuals. If you've found this message, we implore you to take a look at our jobs page."
As of now, we don't know what secret ending Wasteland 3 has left for hackers, but we are certain that it will soon become public. Since gamers now know that there is a secret ending for beating the game with hacks, curious players will certainly try to discover and share the ending online.
Wasteland 3 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
