Wasteland Remastered hits the stores on February 25. The game is developed by InXile Entertainment and will launch on Xbox One and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Windows Store. It will also be part of the Xbox Game Pass. Although the developers at InXile have stated that only Windows and Xbox versions are planned "for now", the game could expand to additional platforms later.
Wastleland Remastered is an updated version of the original 1988 Wasteland. Here’s a quick history lesson for all those that are too young to know the game. The original Wasteland is an open world role-playing video game developed by Interplay and published by Electronic Arts. The game was first launched in 1988 for Apple II computers, but was then later ported to Commodore 64 and MS-DOS. Wasteland was such a success that two more sequels were planned. Unfortunately, they were never developed. Wasteland is also the inspiration behind the successful Fallout franchise.
The Remastered version remains true to the design and gameplay of the original, but features updated graphics and better audio. You can compare the remaster to the original version yourself in the tweet below.
Wasteland Remastered is not the only WL game fans are getting this year. Wasteland 3, a brand new third game in the franchise, will also launch on May 19. The third game in the series takes place in post-apocalyptic Colorado and players control the last surviving member of Team November. Even if you are only looking forward to Wastleland 3, WL: Remastered is the perfect entry point for you.
Following the release of Wasteland 3, InXile boss Brian Fargo aims to retire.
