In Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 episode 2, which airs Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC, Dr. Andrew Deluca and Dr. Alex Karev meet in court after the fateful night when Karev attacked Deluca , believing he was trying to take advantage of his girlfriend, Jo, while she was drunk.
The episode followed the Grey’s Anatomy season opener where Karev brought Deluca to the hospital in bad shape, requiring scans and surgery. He survived but has visible injuries. Throughout the episode, Karev avoided confessing and even tried to approach Deluca about not saying anything. Eventually, he turned himself into the police, but not before Meredith told Chief Bailey he was the one that attacked Deluca.
From episode promos, it appears Deluca has decided to stay in the Grey Sloan intern program, but has pressed charges against Karev. Karev believed he would be charged with a misdemeanor; however, Deluca’s lawyer puts in a change of felony assault in the second degree.
Will Karev face jail time for attacking Deluca? We will find out during Grey's Anatomy episode 2 "Catastrophe And The Cure", which is best viewed on television or live online through ABC Live.
Meredith attempts to stand by Karev’s side during this time; however, other doctors have urged her to be wary of her loyalties. She and Karev has a connection as the only two doctors remaining at Grey Sloan from their own intern class.
Meanwhile, newlyweds Amelia and Owen host a dinner party where Meredith and Rigg flirt with each other while Meredith tries to warn him that her sister, Maggie, plans to ask him out on a date. She tells him he should decline and he takes it as a sign that she is still interested in him. The two had a shortly blossoming relationship toward the end of Season 12; however, in the Season 13 premiere , Meredith told Riggs they shouldn’t date.
