The update will be free, and include new features such as Microsoft Edge browser extensions, new limitations on Cortana and Microsoft Ink, a framework for implementing stylus pen support into third-party apps.
The browser extensions for Microsoft Edge will allow Windows 10 users to use biometric login credentials to access apps, while Cortana will be limited to using Bing from now on, a deliberate move from Microsoft to stop third-party hacks that switched Cortana to using Google. Also included are more Windows 10 apps supporting Cortana, background music for the Xbox One and tools to support educational Windows 10 use in classrooms.
The ability to upgrade to Windows 10 for free from previous generations of Widows will run out July 29, so if you’d like to enjoy the new features, make sure to upgrade before then. Although judging from Microsoft’s recent legal trouble, some people aren’t too happy about the update.
