Siri turns out to have the insider dirt on when WWDC will be this year. While Apple has already updated their website, i f you ask Siri when WWDC is, she’ll tell you that “The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held June 13 through June 17 in San Francisco. I can’t wait!”
Apple is rumored to announce the new name of Mac OS X during WWDC, changing the name of their operating system to macOS. With that announcement, Apple is expected to reveal iOS 10 and OS X 10.12 (or whatever that the successor to OS X will be named).
Apple typically takes advantage of WWDC to announce new versions of its operating system. Expect to see new features for Apple operating systems such as tvOS, watchOS, OS X and iOS announced as well.
One of the possible new features that could be revealed with macOS is “FlightUtilities,” a private framework included with the current version of OS X, El Capitan, but not yet released for public use. This feature would allow OS X users to track flights natively through the the operating system.
A programmer looking through the framework’s code found the mention of macOS, passing the information onto to Brazil’s MacMagazine. Days later, Apple accidentally included the term macOS in a manner used interchangeably with OS X in technical documents.
