The Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip video game is scheduled to be released October 15. The game is being developed for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.
To be developed by High Voltage Software, the game is inspired by the characters, story, horror, and humor of both the original film Zombieland, and its upcoming sequel, Zombieland 2: Double Tap.
The game is set after the events of the first film, and is geared to be a fun top-down twin-stick shooter that allows for local co-op multiplayer for a maximum of four players. You can play as your favorite from the original film - Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock. You can also unlock new characters found in the sequel movie.
Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip has players face a huge number of dangerous and highly unique grotesque undead monstrosities. Players need to use their special abilities, an arsenal of weapons, and of course, the essential Zombieland rules for survival in order to stay alive. The game offers a story-based campaign mode, a wave-based horde mode, and even ongoing daily and weekly challenges.
Zombieland was released back in 2009 and starred Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin. The film follows a geeky college kid who manages to stay alive during a zombie apocalypse by following what he calls his survival rules. Along the way he meets three strangers and they band together in the hopes of finding a place free of zombies. The sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap continues the story of the four survivors and this time they face off against evolved zombies and new survivors.
Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip is being developed by High Voltage Software, which is considered one of the most prolific console game developers in the U.S. The company is known for helping to develop games like The Conduit, Mortal Kombat X, Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, Injustice Gods Among Us: Ultimate Edition, Hunter the Reckoning, and Lego Racers. Minneapolis-based GameMill Entertainment serves as the publisher.
