There's been a bit of upheaval in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone community over the Frank Woods skin redesign. The character Frank Woods was announced to be playable in Modern Warfare and Warzone shortly after the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War reveal. Fans were really excited to get this iconic character, but all the hype went away as soon as players saw the character's face.
If you didn't already know, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will run on a different engine than Modern Warfare and Warzone. Porting characters from one engine to another can cause some issues, but fans are annoyed with the legendary character's absurd face model.
Frank Woods is compared with some of the iconic characters in the Call of Duty franchise, including Soap MacTavish, Captain Price, and Ghost. Whenever Woods makes an appearance, fans are bound to be captivated. When Activision announced the pre-order rewards for Black Ops Cold War, many fans immediately pre-ordered the game to receive Frank Woods. However, seeing that the in-game character model of Woods was drastically different than what was advertised. This annoyed the Call of Duty community, which started circulating the new "Modern Warfared" meme across the internet.
Even though Woods vaguely resembles what he looked like in Black Ops, it seems that his face has been rounded off and some of his details are blurred. Apparently, the Black Ops legends also had a shave before entering the battlefields of Warzone and Modern Warfare.
Some players have been adjusting the game's graphic settings on PC like Cinematic SMAA and reducing blur to make the character appear more prominent. However, increasing certain settings as SMAA can hit the FPS pretty hard. While PC players can adjust certain settings and make the character look semi-accurate, console players are left with no alternatives.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone are available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
