Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered PS4 multiplayer servers may be online prior to the title’s official release date on Nov. 4. While performance is spotty at best, players around the world have been enjoying online action since shortly after a 1.04 patch dropped.
CharlieINTEL reported the server activity a few hours ago, and it’s supplemented by player accounts on reddit. As of now it looks like most of the confirmations are coming out of Europe, but, given how server launches typically roll out, we wouldn’t be surprised if things quietly went live in North America and elsewhere too. Even the title’s official server activity site confirms signs of life. Those with the game currently installed may want to check the status for themselves.
For those not so tuned in to the Call Of Duty universe, the reason why some players have been given early access to Modern Warfare Remastered despite preload restrictions is because the title’s single-player campaign was unlocked for pre-order customers a few weeks ago. Because the full download is already there, the multiplayer option can be selected.
Should you be able to get online, the current version of the remaster features 10 multiplayer maps including Ambush, Backlot, Bog and a few others. In time, six more will be released as DLC to complete the original title’s full roster. Aside from that, the gameplay, weapons and progression systems are essentially identical with augmented visuals.
There are some noted limitations, of course. Since the release of a 1.04 patch, private match support has been hit or miss in these early hours. Once the official launch starts, however, that shortcoming should be removed.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is currently exclusive to the Legacy, Digital or Legacy Pro editions of Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. The new 2016 title also releases on Nov. 4 and is available for preload across PS4, Xbox One and PC. It will unlock at approximately 12:01 a.m. EDT on the date.
