Publisher Activision teased that the Call of Duty franchise will be getting a crossover. This is with the hit Netflix show Squid Game.

The latest reveal comes after the series has had several other high-profile crossovers. These include Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and many more. Activision is now teaming up with Netflix for a Squid Game crossover with Black Ops 6 and Warzone.

Squid Game Crossover

The crossover is set to come out sometime early next year and brings the world of the series into the battlefield.

Squid Game stars a group of players who are trying to survive a gauntlet of children's games to win a massive payout. The catch is that the games have been turned deadly.

The series immediately became a smash hit when the first season launched in 2021 on Netflix. The Call of Duty crossover comes as the second season of Squid Game is coming to the video streaming platform on Dec. 26, 2024, according to Eurogamer.

Activision just revealed the planned crossover with a teaser trailer that lasted about 30 seconds. The footage shows an Operator discovering what seems to be a mysterious envelope that has three shapes; circle, triangle, and square.

The teaser trailer ends with the Call of Duty logo coming up in a sequence that is reminiscent of Squid Game's opening titles. The video then reveals to fans that the crossover is set to come out in January 2025.

There are no official details about the Squid Game crossover that have been revealed by Activision. Many fans are excited because Call of Duty collaborations usually feature more than just adding cosmetics and skins, Forbes said.

Hyping Up Season 2

Some people are hopeful that Black Ops 6 and Warzone will get special maps that include Squid Game's traps and puzzles. Others think that the latter game can have a section that was designed after the Netflix show's location.

The collaboration crossover between the two franchises is most likely part of an effort to promote Squid Game's second season. The reveal also comes ahead of Black Ops 6's Season Reloaded update.

The latter is set to add a ton of new content to the game, such as multiplayer maps and a Zombies experience. A lot of video games have been leaning on limited-time pop culture events recently.

The crossover between Call of Duty and Squid Game makes sense as both franchises are powerhouses in the respective industries. It also makes sense as the latter features graphic and violent content that fits perfectly in Activision's shooter, according to Game Rant.
