Activision and Sledgehammer Games are set to launch Call of Duty: Vanguard alpha test this weekend. Those who will participate have a chance to experience a new game mode.
The game’s alpha test will be exclusive to PS4 and PS5 only and it will run from August 27 at 1 p.m. EST until August 29 at 1 p.m. EST.
New Mode
The developers are excited to introduce Champion Hill this weekend. It is a multi-arena survival match where a group of players will compete in a round-robin style tournament against seven other squads.
In the alpha test, you will compete either as a Duo (2v2) or Trio (3v3) with each squad having a set number of lives to begin with.
You will be subjected to a series of timed rounds and your objective here is to reduce the life count of the enemy squads to zero.
Everyone competing in the Champion Hill will start on equal footing as you will have the same loadout as the others.
Killing enemies will reward you with cash, though you can also get some by picking up the ones scattered around the map.
Similar to games like CS:GO, there will be “Buy Rounds” between Combat Rounds so you can purchase new weapons, upgrade existing ones, and buy equipment, among others.
Pay special attention to the Buy Rounds as what you will do here will greatly affect your chances of beating enemy squads as the game progresses.
Of course, weapons can only do so much in a game. Player skill and teamwork will ultimately determine the outcome of the tournament.
Accessing the Alpha Test
Those who have either Call of Duty: Warzone, Modern Warfare, or Black Ops Cold War installed on their consoles will have access to Call of Duty: Vanguard’s alpha test.
The alpha menu blade is located at the far left of the main menu screen. Clicking this option for the first time will direct you to the PlayStation Store where you can download the game. You can access the title after it is installed on your console in the same menu.
Those who will participate in the test will receive an Emblem and a Calling Card, which are all accessible upon the game’s release on November 5.
So, Playstation owners, are you going to participate in the upcoming alpha test of Call of Duty: Vanguard?
