The Xbox Series X is going to feature a custom internal SSD that has been specifically designed to offer a speed boost when it comes to loading games as well as allow players to multitask or suspend games without having to quit sessions. However, up until now, these two features were just on paper and Microsoft only explained how these features worked in theory. Well, now it seems that we have some video footage to see how they actually work in the real world.
Although it is easier to understand when someone speaks of faster game load times, words don't really do justice when it comes to explaining game suspensions and multitasking. Microsoft posted a tech demo showcasing faster loading speeds on the Xbox Series X. The company used State of Decay 2 for this test and if you've been an Xbox One gamer, you know how notoriously long the loading times are on the Xbox One. In the video, we can see that the Xbox Series X only took about 10 seconds to get past the State of Decay 2 loading screen, while the Xbox One generally takes about a minute to load the game. Check out the demo for yourself:
Microsoft also shared another video in which it showcased the Quick Resume functionality of the Xbox Series X. The feature allows the console to suspend up to three Xbox Series X titles at once and resume them whenever you want without any issues. The demo showcases the player switching between Forza Motorsport 7, Ori and the Blind Forest, and State of Decay 2 without any hitches whatsoever. Take a look at the demo below:
The Xbox Series X comes packed with 16GB of RAM that caches memory from the available RAM to the internal storage. This is what helps the console to quickly resume games and switch between games without problems.
If you didn't already know, the specs for Xbox Series X are already out and you can check them out here.
