The EU/CIS division of the Dota 2 BTS Pro Series Season 3 has finally named a champion. It’s none other than EU team Vikin.gg. The team had a strong showing in the Group Stage, but in the Playoffs later dropped to the Lower Bracket. They then worked their way to the Grand Final to capture the victory.

The team had its start in September 2019 but two months later would sign on a completely new roster. The team is currently composed of:

  • Indji "Shad" Lub
  • Miroslav "BOOM" Bičan
  • Tobias "Tobi" Buchner
  • Adam "Aramis" Moroz
  • Melchior "Seleri" Hillenkamp (Team Captain)

Since then, Vikin.gg has been getting a lot of wins in Tier 3 tournaments. In the recently concluded OMEGA League: Europe Immortal League, the team finished at the 7th-8th spot.

As mentioned, Vikin.gg had a strong showing in the Group Stage, finishing second with a standing of 5–2–1 behind mudgolems. In the Upper Bracket, the squad faced off against Ninjas in Pyjamas, where Vikin.gg got swept 0–2.

This resulted in the team dropping to the Lower Bracket, where they managed to show off what they were made of. Their first match was against 5men and in the first game, had to work for the win. Initially, 5men had the lead, but a team fight worked to Vikin.gg’s favor and allowed the latter to eventually get the victory. The second game was pretty much a formality as it was all Vikin.gg.

Vikin.gg faced Khan in the next round, and the team had no problem in the first game as they took the lead and never looked back. Khan, however, answerd in the second game to tie the series. By the third game, Vikin.gg did not give Khan any chance and secured the win.

This led Vikin.gg to a rematch against NiP. Unlike in the first round of the Upper Bracket, Vikin.gg took no chances and managed to reverse everything and sweep NiP 2–0.

The Grand Final match was versus mudgolem, the team that ended the Group Stage on top. The match was pretty much like Vikin.gg’s previous ones, and showcased Vikin.gg's domination. In the first game, the team managed to only give mudgolem a total of two team kills. That’s right, just two. In the second game, it appeared that mudgolem would tie the series, but once the Tier 5 neutral items stared dropping, it was all Vikin.gg. The third game was pretty much like the first one and Vikin.gg ended the series with a 3–0 sweep.

Up next for the team is ESL One Germany 2020 where Vikin.gg faces off against many of the region’s best teams. How do you think Vikin.gg is going to fare in this upcoming tournament? Let us know in the comments section below.
