Fallout 76 released its roadmap for 2020 and it looks like a lot of new content is arriving over the next few months. Seasons are going to be introduced along with a major rebalancing of both combat and rewards. This year is also going to launch what is known as the Brotherhood of Steel story arc.
One big change that Seasons are going to introduce is a new account-wide progression system. This will overhaul the entire Challenge system while ensuring that players also get new rewards along the way. This feature is going to be available to all players and is set to offer a more unified progression path. With this, players should be able to unlock new and unique rewards like C.A.M.P. items, Power Armor paints, Atoms, Legendary Scrip, and Perk Packs, among others.
Under the old system, players that finished Daily and Weekly Challenges were rewarded with Atoms. With the new system, players instead are awarded a new currency known as S.C.O.R.E. points. These allow players to make headway into their Seasonal progression and be able to unlock incredible rewards. For Fallout 76, this should allow for a more flexible, engaging, fun experience for all players. However, it’s still possible that the final mechanics of Seasons can change based on player feedback and internal playtests.
Here are some other details that players can expect with the upcoming Seasons:
- Players are going to see a new option on the Main Menu. This new option should take them to a new and unique Fallout-themed seasonal progression screen.
- For Season 1 it’s going to be a Captain Cosmos-themed boardgame.
- Players start at the first space on the board, from Rank 1 up to 100.
- In order to advance on the board, players need to acquire S.C.O.R.E., a new currency.
- S.C.O.R.E. can only be obtained through the new Challenge system as well as other in-game activities.
- Challenges are going to be less complicated while being easier to complete.
- It should involve activities where can complete by playing Fallout 76.
- Each rank hands out rewards.
- Bigger rewards are given the more players advance and at specific milestones.
- Seasons run for 10 weeks
- There’s a two-week break between the end of one season and the end of another.
- Players have the choice of spending 150 Atoms to skip ranks after the first two weeks of a Season.
- This should allow players who joined the Season late to catch up.
When can players expect Seasons to start? The inaugural run is set to launch with the release of Patch 20, which arrives this Summer.
