A new legendary dweller, dubbed ‘Old Longfellow’ has appeared inside of Fallout Shelter, a likely easter egg dropped ahead of the Fallout 4 DLC, “Far Harbor” releasing May 19. Old Longfellow presumably is the game embodiment of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who wrote the classic “Midnight Ride of Paul Revere” poem which references the Old North Church. The Old North Church is a Commonwealth location inside of Fallout 4.
Buzz about the new dweller started late Monday afternoon redditor, sidneylopsides, posted that after logging into his vault, a pop up appeared with 5 lunchboxes and a message that Old Longfellow wanted to join the vault.
Other redditors soon chimed in stating they had also received the same popup and Old Longfellow request to join the vault. While the new character was not accompanied by an update, it appears another redditor discovered it had been lying dormant in the 1.5 update about three weeks ago but is only now beginning to show up in players’ vaults.
New Fallout Shelter Dweller “Old Longfellow” Weapon, Outfit, Stats And How To Get Him
So far, people who have received the new character report that he is a legendary character that comes with a brand new outfit – a tattered longcoat – that gives the character the following SPEACIAL boosts: 2 Strength 2 Endurance, 2 Charisma and 2 Luck. He also comes equipped with a Henrietta rifle with 13-16 damage. The level of Old Longfellow seems to vary from player to player with some reporting as low as 28 while others as high as 42. Though it hasn’t been confirmed, it appears the new character is only showing up for Fallout Shelter vaults that have at least 20 dwellers.
Additionally, the new character seems to only be appearing on Android devices. We tried to get the new character to show up in out game on iPad and iPhone and oddly, we can’t even get the game to stay open right now. It keeps crashing. This may be an indicator that the new character will soon be turned on for iOS users as well. But, if it’s not, we suppose it’s just payback since Android users never received the Fallout 4 dweller Piper on their devices.
As more is learned about the new character and how to access it, we’ll be sure to update this post. In the meantime, if you’ve received the Old Longfellow character, let us know in the comments how many dwellers are in your vault and if you are on iOS or Android.
