Final Fantasy XIV Mobile is Seemingly Approved for Release in China

A mobile port for Final Fantasy XIV is reportedly releasing in China despite no official confirmation from Square Enix. Square Enix

A mobile port for Final Fantasy XIV is seemingly confirmed for release in China as part of a new batch of games that have been approved for the region.

The inclusion of the highly popular MMO in the approved list of games in China comes as Square Enix has not yet officially confirmed a mobile port for the game. This makes it a mystery how the title will actually play out on the platform.

Final Fantasy XIV Mobile Port

The fact that Chinese regulators are already able to judge the Final Fantasy XIV mobile port, it seems like the project is already pretty far along in development.

But for now, there are no footage or screenshots of the port as players have to wait for Square Enix for official reveals.

The mobile port for Final Fantasy XIV comes as the game was previously ported to Xbox earlier this year.

If the latest news proves to be accurate, it seems that Square Enix is working to make its MMO playable everywhere and on as many platforms as possible, according to TheGamer.

On top of Final Fantasy XIV, the latest round of games that are being imported to China include Rainbow Six, Dynasty Warriors, and Marvel Rivals. Niko Partners noted that the first is most likely a mobile release.

With regards to any Nintendo titles, it seems like Mario Golf: Super Rush and Paper Mario: The Origami King are being imported to China.

The latest news of a Final Fantasy XIV mobile port coming to China comes after a report last month noted that Tencent was working on it.

Releasing in China

Niko Partners' news release revealed that China's National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) approved 15 import games on Aug. 2, 2024.

Daniel Ahmad said on X that the mobile port is expected to be a "standalone MMORPG" that is separate from the PC version, said VG247.

Ahmad also responded to questions about whether or not the mobile port was already completed. He said that "it should be close to done" but noted that it could take another three to six months of work before the public hears from Square Enix.

The news that Final Fantasy XIV is coming to new platforms is not a surprise for many people as the game is loved by a lot of fans.

It has become a massively profitable title for Square Enix and the development team is excited about future updates, according to GamesRadar.
