There has been a huge identity reveal in every season of The Flash . This year will have one too, but it probably won’t be someone we’d know or expect. If statements from Grant Gustin at the DCTV PaleyFest panel last weekend are any indication, we should probably just shut up and stop guessing.
“It’s not the same as past reveals. With Zoom and Reverse-Flash, the audience was starting to realize things before we all started to piece it together. But I don’t know how you would know this year. And when you do find out, it’s like, ‘Oh. My. God!’ There are really no secrets or hints leading up to it.”
Theories range from future Barry Allen or Wally, to Daniel West, H.R. Wells and Eddie Thawne. However, none of these predictions have a particularly solid argument.
“Slowly, different characters are going to learn who Savitar is,” said co-Star Danielle Panabaker, who plays Killer Frost. “But I don’t know if the audience is going to be told anytime soon.”
One of those characters who knows Savitar’s identity is Abra Kadabra, according to Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg, and there will be a tough decision involved with his visit from the future in episode 18.
“Do Barry and the team let Abra Kadabra go in order to get Savitar’s identity? It’s a great mortality play. Iris and Barry have a great scene, ‘Can you be a hero if you do one bad thing?'” Kreisberg added.
Kreisberg also said the creative team has been planning Savitar for a while. “The first two seasons were about having fun with his powers, and this season for Barry is really about the pitfalls of having powers, and that’s the story we wanted to tell. That’s why Savitar was the perfect villain for that story.”
The Flash airs Tuesdays on The CW.
