Update: TV Line has confirmed Lasance will play The Rival, a version of The Reverse Flash who creates a Velocity 9 serum and gets stuck inside the speed force.
Savitar is not the black speedster pictured with Kid Flash in a set photo last month, thought to be the main villain in The Flash Season 3. In a tweet Tuesday evening, Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti denied countless claims that writer Todd Helbing confirmed Savitar as the black speedster during a recent interview.
Todd Lasance will play the black speedster pictured, but Berlanti refuted, “We have NOT cast Savitar. Those reports are incorrect.”
Fans quickly identified the face behind this mask as Todd Lasance of Vampire Diaries. Since costumes don't always look like they do in the comics, Lasance could also very well be the Black Racer – a speedster who can bring death with a single touch. He could also be another iteration of The Reverse Flash, known as Daniel West. Flashpoint presents Central City with an alternate timeline, which makes it extremely difficult to identify a pattern behind the casting.
In the Season 2 finale, Zoom appeared to transform into another villainous speedster who resembles The Black Flash. Before the speed force took Zoom away, he shriveled up and a red flash symbol appeared on his black suit. The Black Flash is basically the grim reaper of the speed force and his costume doesn't resemble the one seen in the set photo. Producer Andrew Kreisberg suggested Teddy Sears will return to play The Black Flash at some point during Season 3.
