Last week, Gorilla Grodd was confirmed to appear on The Flash Season 3 in a two-episode arc set in Gorilla City. Now, it looks like another well-known Gorilla will also debut. Solovar, the progressive leader of Gorilla City and longtime nemesis of Gorilla Grodd, will debut in episodes 13 and 14.
Solovar’s beef with Gorilla Grodd makes him an ally to Team Flash. Gorilla City rose to a technological utopia under his rule, but Solovar’s leadership and psychic abilities are often challenged by Grodd in the comics. The Flash is actually the first human to learn of Gorilla City’s existence, as it is hidden in the jungles of Africa and its location only known by sentient gorillas.
“One of the episodes will take place in Gorilla City [on Earth-2],” showrunner Andrew Kreisberg said at the Television Critics Association Winter press tour, “and one of them will take place on Earth-1.”
Set photos during filming for episodes 13 and 14 suggest we’ll see Kid Flash, Jesse Quick, Vibe, Gypsy and all suited up to help The Flash face Grodd. There’s also a mysterious new speedster who looks a lot like Accelerated Man pictured in the images. Read more potential spoilers about the Gorilla City episodes here.
Keith David will voice Solovar, and David Sobolov will return to voice Grodd. The Flash returns with episode 10 on Jan. 24.
