The mysterious woman who confronted Barry Allen before the West-Allen wedding ceremony during the Crisis on Earth X crossover will return to The Flash this season. Jessica Parker Kennedy, who many Flash fans believe to be Dawn Allen, confirmed her appearance during an interview with Bustle.
“I’ll be around. You’ll see me at least one more time, I can tell you that," Kennedy said. "You’ll see me again on the show and things will make more sense.”
Kennedy did not specify in what episode we’ll see her character, so all we know is somewhere in the second half of The Flash Season 4. Considering the midseason premiere is “Trial of The Flash,” it’s quite possible the Flash writers will save her reveal when Barry’s storyline with The Thinker dies down.
“They have me listed as ‘Mystery Girl’ and I just hang out as Mystery Girl on set,” Kennedy continued. “Even [the costume department] are like, ‘Who are you?’ And I’m like: ‘I am Mystery Girl.’ It’s been a very secretive mission and it’s been fun to be a part of."
If you need a refresher, a waitress approached Barry Allen before he married Iris. She seemed to genuinely want to help him calm any pre-wedding jitters by offering him sparkling water and sternly reminding him to say, “I do.” Stuttering, she tells Barry how excited she is to be at his wedding. “This is going to be one for the ages and I’m really happy I got to see it,” the woman says as Barry gives her a very weird look. He asks if they’ve met but she says she’s a complete and total stranger. To make matters even more suspicious, she happens to look like she could be the child of Barry and Iris.
This left comic book fans with two educated guesses about this woman’s identity. Barry and Iris had twins named Dawn and Don in the comics. You guessed it, they also have superspeed powers and call themselves the ‘Tornado Twins.” This would just be an average guess except the idea of Barry and Iris having twins was purported earlier this season when Barry arrived back from the speed force. In his psychotic daze he muttered, “More Diapers,” suggesting maybe the twins were unexpected.
A second option is Jenni Ognats. She is the granddaughter of Barry Allen and Iris West, the daughter of Dawn Allen and Jeven Ognats, and the cousin of Bart Allen (Impulse). She also eventually developed superspeed and joined the Legion of Super-Heroes as XS. It’s worth mentioning that Bart Allen (the son of Don Allen) traveled to the 21st century to live among his grandfather, Barry, Iris and Wally. We can’t rule out the possibility that The Flash will change the story from Bart to Jenni if they choose to avoid the Dawn Allen storyline.
Hopefully, The Flash won’t have Barry and Iris raise two children anytime soon, but that doesn’t make us any less interested in the identity of the mystery woman and why she’s presumably traveled through time to attend Barry’s wedding.
Any solid theories? Sound off in the comments. The Flash returns Jan. 16.
