Before Suicide Squad arrived in theaters there was talk of a Harley Quinn spinoff movie featuring Margot Robbie and some of DC’s most famous villainesses and heroines. That movie now has a more concrete name, Gotham City Sirens. Robbie will executive produce.
One of the highlights of Margot Robbie’s debut as Harley Quinn was her relationship with Deadshot. After Warner Bros. official Gotham City Sirens announcement, Will Smith spoke with MTV about the possibility of Deadshot joining the spinoff.
“I’d definitely love to be in it. I love Margot Robbie. I will do like anything she wants to do,” he said.
Deadshot doesn’t exactly have a place in this all-woman cast but, considering he was the best part of Suicide Squad , it’s too early to rule anything out. Warner Bros. is also looking into a Deadshot spinoff, so Gotham City Sirens could be a good way to test the waters
The Gotham City Sirens comic series centered around villains Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. It’s unclear now if The Joker will appear in the film, but early rumors also suggested Birds of Prey could appear. The heroic female group was initially formed in Gotham City, but moved to Metropolis. The main members were Batgirl/Oracle, Black Canary, and Huntress and Lady Blackhawk, but there were other core members throughout the history of the series.
Warner Bros. is also working a Suicide Squad sequel. Gotham City Sirens and the sequel have no release date.
