If you own a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, we have bad news. Gotham Knights will no longer be available on those two consoles. The release is limited to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
This piece of news is indeed going to hurt a bit more considering how good it looks in the gameplay demo below:
It was in August 2020 when Warner Bros. Games Montreal revealed this game during the DC FanDome event. Back then, it was announced to come on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. So, what changed? Not much has been revealed except that on the game's FAQ page, the reason for the decision appeared to be giving "players with the best possible gameplay experience."
If this is the first time knowing this game, the best way to describe it is it’s a Batman game without the Dark Knight. Why's that? The quick answer is that Batman is dead and as a result, the criminal underworld has taken advantage of that absence.
But that doesn’t mean there’s no hope for Gotham because the task of protecting the city now falls squarely on the Bat Family. They’re not only putting fear in criminals but also bringing hope to the citizens of Gotham. Dubbed the Gotham Knights , they are Nightwing (Christopher Sean), Batgirl (America Young), Red Hood (Stephen Oyoung), and Robin (Sloane Morgane Siegel). While not a playable character, players can also encounter Alfred (Gildart Jackson).
Pre-order for Gotham Knights is now open and priced at $69.99. There is also the Gotham Knights Deluxe Edition, available at $89.99, which has the base game and extra goodies such as the Visionary Pack downloadable content (DLC) with exclusive gear, cosmetics, and Beyond Suitstyle character skins inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series.
Finally, there is the Gotham Knights Collector’s Edition, offered at $299.99. It has everything in the Deluxe Edition along with an augmented reality collectible pin, 16-page media book, exclusive city map, and four-character statue diorama, to name a few.
