Polyphony Digital founder Kazunori Yamauchi is quick to point out that Gran Turismo Sport will not be Gran Turismo 7, but new information regarding the next "Real Driving Simulator" tells us that the game will not be a GT "light" like Prologue either. Via GTPlanet, Kazunori talked about the upcoming game in an interview with China outlet A9VG during the GT Sport tour in China.
"In the end, there will be around four to five hundred cars," Kazunori said. "All cars have been re-modeled, and there won’t be standard cars.”
This figure triples the 140 vehicles that GT Sport is set to deliver at launch. What's more, a pure premium vehicle roster will go far to make the anticipated PS4 title feel way more cohesive and polished than the poorly aging Gran Turismo 6.
Typically, racing game DLC car packs charge $1 for every new car. Kazunori didn't go into details regarding how the vehicles will trickle into the game, but all car DLCs for Gran Turismo 6 have been free updates.
In other GT Sport news, reports suggest there will be less events and track locations. Early reports in May reported GT Sport is slated to feature 19 locations and 27 layouts. However, a recent GT Sport press conference in China announced there will only be 15 locations, although 27 layouts remain unchanged.
For the aspiring pro-racers, GTPlanet also reported that Polyphony is looking to hire real Formula 1 coaches to work with finalists of GT Sport's online racing competitions.
The Gran Turismo Sport release date is Nov. 14 in North America and Australia. The game will arrive in Europe on Nov. 16.
