Horizon Forbidden West is set to launch late this year, however, there is a small chance it can get delayed. The sequel to 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn was revealed last year and the gameplay footage was released several days ago. Fans have been going crazy about the impressive visuals of the game as the footage revealed new robot enemies, tribes, combat moves, underwater exploration, and a boss fight.
Flying Not Confirmed Or Denied
There are still several things that we don’t know, like will there be actual flying in the game. Many fans of the first game wanted to explore the map by riding a Stormbird or a Glinthawk. But we all know that didn’t happen. Game Director Mathijs De Jonge was asked if flying is featured but he refused to reveal any information.
“We are aware that this feature is very, very high on the wishlists of many gamers, but I cannot confirm or deny anything about this. I can only talk about what's in the actual gameplay demo that we showed,” said De Jonge in an interview.
I know that this is not an actual confirmation. Though if there was no flying, I think the developer would have outright denied it instead of the usual “cannot confirm or deny.”
Beta Milestone Complete
De Jonge may not confirm flying yet he did reveal info about the game’s development. He said that the development has reached its beta stage, meaning that the game's main parts are done and are now being polished for performance and stability. Some work on the final cinematic and a couple of machines are still in progress. This news makes us hopeful that the game will make its planned release window. We can only hope that the current pandemic doesn’t affect the game anymore.
Platform and Release Window
As mentioned above, Horizon Forbidden West will release in Q4 of 2021 and will be available on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The PC version has not been announced yet, however, Hermen Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios confirmed in a previous interview that every PlayStation game will eventually be released on PC.
