Fans got to learn more about Bonnie (Liza Weil) in Season 2 of ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder. The flashback clips show an insecure and timid Bonnie seeking help from Annalise’s (Viola Davis) husband. In another part of the season, Annalise reveals to Asher (Matt McGorry) that Bonnie was sexually abused as a little girl. By the end of Season 2, Bonnie served as the middleman between Annalise and Frank (Charlie Weber) after they have a falling out.
What’s in store for Bonnie in Season 3? According to creator Peter Nowalk, Bonnie will be playing the “mama bear” part and keeping the group cohesive. “She’s almost the mama bear trying to connect everyone,” Nowalk told Entertainment Weekly about Liza Weil’s character. “That’s what her role will be. In that, I would like to explore and show you guys more how her and Annalise met, and why Annalise and this family are so important to her.”
Asher and Bonnie’s hookup came to an end in Season 2, despite the fact that the two seem to still have feelings for one another. Asher, meanwhile, juggled his breakup, hooking up with Michaela (Aja Naomi King) and dealing with his father’s death.
The death of Asher’s father could be something the show revisits. After his father’s suicide, Asher spent some time trying to prove that it was murder. “It’s possible that we come back to that,” said Nowalk to EW. “At this point, Asher really wanted to believe that his father was killed, because then killing Emily Sinclair was more justified. He’s now in a place where he’s trying to move on from that and accept the reality that he committed suicide.”
Season 3 of ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder returns in the fall.
