Seen the new Dalmatian filter photos on Snapchat but don’t know how to get it? We’ve got a complete guide on getting and using Snapchat’s new Dalmatian dog filter, here.
About a week ago Kim Kardashian dropped a hint that Snapchat should add a new dog filter “like a Dalmatian or a Chihuahua” and presto bamo, there is one. Tuesday afternoon, fans of the image-based social network discovered a little Easter egg that allowed them to take selfies as not only the highly-used brown puppy dog but also a Dalmatian. What was first thought to be a glitch, actually is a hidden filter inside of the dog filter that appears when there are two faces in the photo (or when the camera thinks it recognizes two faces).

While you can get the Dalmatian filter to show up in a wacky kind of way if you are flying solo, the new dog filter option is actually made for you and a friend – similar to how the Faceswap filter works. We’ve got the complete rundown of how to get the filter to work for you below.
How To Use The Dalmatian Filter Lens On Snapchat
- Grab a friend, doll, pet, large picture of someone’s face etc.
- Open the Snapchat app
- Double tap on the camera screen to get it front-facing (where you can see yourself).
- Press and hold on your face until the camera recognizes it. New lenses will appear below.
- Swipe through the lenses till you get to the one with the dog face (it’s the very first one right now).
- Once you’ve found it, get you and your friend’s faces in front of the screen. f
- Once both you faces are recognized, you’ll become a regular puppy and your friend will be a Dalmatian!
- Snap a photo or hold down on the snap button to make a short video clip
- Done!
The Dalmatian Filter On Snapchat Still Isn’t Working For Me! Why Can’t I Do It?
If you can’t get the Dalmatian lens to work for you, it’s best to back up a bit. Holding the camera further away and looking straight ahead seems to work best. You may even want to use a selfie stick for it, as it’s really hard to get the proper distance and press the snap button at the same time.
