Hyper Scape is finally out and free to play for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. With this, everyone can now join the 100-player battles in the urban setting of Neo Arcadia. Along with this launch, the game also released Season One: The First Principle, which brings with it new events, new content, and even a Battle Pass.
The game is set in a virtual city of the not-so-distant future. Players can go at it solo or take the fight in three-player squads to be the last one standing. There is also the option to find and hang onto an elusive Crown in order to get the win.
In Hyper Scape, players get access to a wide range of weapons while also letting them bend reality with hacks that gives abilities including homing mines or teleportation. Players that are able to find more than one of the same weapon or hack can fuse them in order to come up with more powerful versions. There’s going to be a total of four fusion tiers for each item.
With Season One, players get access to a new weapon, which is the mid-range Dragonfly. Then there is also the new Magnet hack which allows players to trap their opponents. In addition to items, Season One also brings with it a new and mysterious storyline. To uncover this, player need to collect Memory Shards in order to know more about key characters and events in the Hyper Scape universe. A new Memory Shard is going to be hidden somewhere in the world each week. There’s also going to be a comic released that builds the game’s story.
Season One also introduces a free and premium Battle Pass, which comes with 100 tiers of rewards and because of cross-progression, can be used on multiple platforms. There are also going to be limited-time events which can change the game dramatically. The first one is going to be Lethal Melee, where melee weapons can eliminate enemies with just one hit.
Finally, Season One adds Kudos, which is a tool that can be used with the Crowncast extension for Twitch. Kudos can be purchased using Twitch Bits and lets players support streamers by reacting to exciting moments with in-game visual effects.
Just in case you’ve forgotten, the Hyper Scape Creators Cup finals start on August 14 and will be live streamed on the game’s official Twitch channel here. The competition has a prize pool of $50,000, with 25 teams of streamers going against each other.
