Apple’s successor to the iPhone 5S is rumored to be a 4-inch iPhone that resembles the 5S but with better specs. 9to5Mac reports that smartphone, which is “nearly identical” to the 5s, will be boxier and feature rounded volume buttons.
Other rumored traits of the phone include a power button on top, a headphone jack, microphone and speaker on the bottom, a glass bottom and top and a back with a metal center. In terms of hardware, the new iPhone is said to have an A9 processor, an NFC chip for Apple Pay, and an M9 chip that allows for Siri support.
While the device will be aesthetically similar to the iPhone 5S, other features will be more similar to the iPhone 6 and 6S like the 12 megapixel camera and the 4K video recording feature. Leaks have confirmed that the phone will be available, at the very least, in a 16 gigabyte and 64 gigabyte model with four color choices: silver, space gray, gold and rose gold.
A recent alleged packaging leak from China suggests that the new Apple device is officially called iPhone SE. The leak from the supply chain is a photo of the specifications sticker from the box of the smartphone, which confirms the name, the 16 gigabyte model and other features.
All speculation surrounding the iPhone SE will come to an end next week when Apple debuts the device at its first media event of the year on March 21in Cupertino, Calif.
