Rockstar has released a new trailer for L.A. Noire, showing the impressive visual overhaul the developer has been working on for the crime thriller. The trailer can be watched above, or if you have a proper 4K setup, can be seen in maximum glory on YouTube.
L.A. Noire on Xbox One and PS4 will feature 1080p graphics, with 4K support for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Lighting has been improved for all consoles, along with upgraded textures and added cinematic camera angles. This version will also include all previously released DLC for free.
The Nintendo Switch version of L.A. Noire will not get any major visual overhauls compared to the original PS3 and Xbox 360 releases, but will see additional features including new camera angles, HD rumble support, touch screen support and motion controls. The Switch version will also receive all previously released DLC.
A VR version of L.A. Noire will release for HTC Vive on the same day as the other versions. However, this will not be a full release like the others. There are only seven cases from the original game in the VR version, but they have been rebuilt specifically for VR.
“We’re excited to bring L.A. Noire’s unique mix of real detective work, classic Hollywood atmosphere and thrilling action to these new platforms,” said Sam Houser, the founder of Rockstar Games, in a press statement. “Now with a choice of spectacular virtual reality, stunning 4K, or the freedom of portable play, these enhanced versions are a perfect opportunity for players to experience this richly detailed world in a whole new way."
Interestingly, L.A. Noire is available already on PC, but this 4K upgrade might skip over the platform. Rockstar has not mentioned if a 4K texture pack will be available to those who already own a copy of the game. A smart move would be to replace the version of L.A. Noire currently on Steam with the new HD version, and give out the upgrades to those who already have a copy for free. We’ll have to wait and see if PC players get anything, let alone the option to upgrade.
L.A. Noire releases for PS4, Xbox One, Switch and Vive on Nov. 14.
So what do you think? Are the improvements big enough that you’ll buy L.A. Noire for a second time? Will this be your first adventure through Detective Phelps’ twisted world of crime? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
