We're learning more about Loop8: Summer of Gods, with publisher XSEED Games releasing the game's first fully translated trailer. It highlights the cast of characters and interactions they have with the protagonist in Ashihara. This same trailer also gives a closer look at the game’s turn-based combat.
You can watch the trailer below:
It was in September this year when XSEED announced Loop8: Summer of Gods, a narrative-driven and time-traveling RPG that uses an emotion-based AI system. In the game, the decisions of players and their interactions with other characters affect their emotions and how the story unfolds.
These interactions also have an impact on how allies perform during combat, creating a unique experience for players since their decisions can change how the battle plays out. Since they can go back in time, there's a chance to correct mistakes or even chart a new course forward and discover different possibilities.
In this coming-of-age adventure, players follow protagonist Nini and his classmates in their quest to defeat the Kegai, demonic entities that have forced humanity to the brink of extinction. Having been raised on a failed space station known as "Hope," Nini decides to go down back to Earth and spend his summer in Ashihara, one of the last remaining sanctuaries of humanity. With the gift of "Demon Sight," Nini can use his special connection to the gods to reset the world. With each loop, he and his allies relive the eighth month over and over until they get things right or the Kegai overwhelms them.
The team behind the game include:
- Senior Producer Yoichi Miyaji (Lunar series, Grandia series)
- Game Designer Yuri Shibamura (Gunparade March, Touken Ranbu)
- Character Designers En Morikura (Kizuna Ai) and Shingo Adachi (Sword Art Online)
- Mascot Character Designer Ryudai Murayama (Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin)
- Concept Artist Kitsuneiro (Amatsu Kitsune)
- Composer Noriyuki Iwadare (Ace Attorney series)
