The hype train for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order continues, with Game Informer releasing another much-awaited gameplay footage trailer. The past week has been privy to the introduction of both well-established and new characters, such as Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, and much more recently, Wolverine. Just before the last weekend begun, however, Game Informer managed to sneak in another gameplay video, this time featuring one of the most underrated characters in the whole Marvel franchise: Clint Barton, more commonly known by his alias Hawkeye. You can check the exclusive footage below to see Hawkeye in action in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order.
Hawkeye’s character design in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is much more in line with his comics counterpart, but that in itself was a redesign following the character’s film debut in 2012’s The Avengers, where he was played by Jeremy Renner. It’s definitely much better than the old one, with the silly mask and get-up. I always thought the old design was one of the main reasons why Hawkeye was not as popular as his other Avengers counterparts.
The footage also highlights his abilities. All of them are arrow-based, of course, but differ in technique:
Exploding Arrows - Clint shoots several explosive arrows into the air that then rain down on the enemies and deal fire damage. Players can hold the attack button to aim.
Shock Value - Clint fires electric arrows in front of him dealing extra shock damage to characters in a row.
Scattershot - Clint shoots a barrage of explosive arrows at nearby enemies.
Piercing Shot - Clint's arrows pierce enemies in front of him. Players can hold the attack button to aim and hidden the attack area.
Overall, Clint looks pretty fun to play as, but that’s probably because he’s one of my favorite Marvel characters. There’s a huge variety in his attacks (not just arrowshot and arrowshot over and over), so I’m definitely looking forward to playing as him. I wish there was a Ronin character in the future, though, but I’d definitely settle for a Ronin alternate costume.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is set to be released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch this July 19, 2019.
