If you're looking for a new experience, then you'd better check out Microcivilization. The game is now available on Steam Early Access and offered at a 10% discount for a limited period.
In Microcivilization players are invited to experience a pixel-art strategy-clicker title where they get to explore, expand, exploit and exterminate. The game begins with a non-linear growth of the population and economic strength as players discover government combinations and hundreds of unique heroes. They can even experiment with ability builds not only for combat challenges but even the construction ones.
Build a Civilization
While the goal is to build a nation that's both rich and powerful, the game gives players a lot of ways to do it. For example, there's the option to oppress the people. Players can also focus on productivity and make sure to have workshops and utilize their active and passive abilities. Like with most games in the same genre, advancing the technology tree results in upgrades and military units being unlocked. There's also going to be new bonuses and even new abilities.
Making the population grow is going to be difficult since there's going to be a lot of issues cropping out. There's going to be wars, social unrests, invasions, diseases, and disasters. Players can expect that at times they're going to get beaten and could even descend into dark ages. The good news is that losing is impossible since the harder the struggle, the more likely that a grand hero can come out from the ashes.
A Hero Rises
That's right! For every crisis that players are able to overcome, they get the chance to gain a hero. Though only a handful of them can be equipped at any time, they serve as inventory items which can boost the power. It's important to collect heroes to get access to new effects for the industry, wealth, stability, and strength. As the game progresses, players get to collect higher tiers of heroes, which when merged with recipes, form sets to gain absurd powers.
