The highly anticipated Microsoft Flight Simulator is just around the corner. The game will launch on August 18 for PC. An Xbox One version has also been confirmed, but no release date for it has been announced yet. Flight Simulator (2020) is a big title for the company. The long-running franchise went on a hiatus after 2006’s Flight Simulator X was released.

There are three different editions of the game that you can purchase.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Standard Edition

As the name suggests, this is the Standard Edition of the game, so it doesn’t come with any extra content. Only the main game is included and that’s it. This edition will give you access to over 20 planes and 30 airports. The standard edition costs only $60, and this is the one we recommend for most players.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Deluxe Edition

The Deluxe Edition is for the players that want something extra. This edition comes with a price tag of $90 and gives you ten additional items (five aircraft and five enhanced airports). That makes each extra item cost you $3, which is not a bad deal.

Additional aircraft:

  • Diamond Aircraft DA40-TDI
  • Diamond Aircraft DV20
  • Textron Aviation Beechcraft Baron G58
  • Textron Aviation Cessna 152 Aerobat
  • Textron Aviation Cessna 172 Skyhawk

Additional enhanced airports:

  • Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (Netherlands)
  • Cairo International Airport (Egypt)
  • Cape Town International Airport (South Africa)
  • O’Hare International Airport (USA)
  • Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (Spain)

Microsoft Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe Edition

The Premium Deluxe Edition is perfect for players that want everything the game has to offer. It will cost you $120, double the price of the standard edition. However, it comes with over 20 extra items. The premium deluxe edition will give you access to over 10 additional aircraft and 10 additional enhanced airports. Only half of these extra items are present in the $90 Deluxe Edition.

Additional aircraft:

  • Diamond Aircraft DA40-TDI
  • Diamond Aircraft DV20
  • Textron Aviation Beechcraft Baron G58
  • Textron Aviation Cessna 152 Aerobat
  • Textron Aviation Cessna 172 Skyhawk
  • Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner
  • Cirrus Aircraft SR22
  • Pipistrel Virus SW 121
  • Textron Aviation Cessna Citation Longitude
  • Zlin Aviation Shock Ultra

Additional enhanced airports:

  • Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (Netherlands)
  • Cairo International Airport (Egypt)
  • Cape Town International Airport (South Africa)
  • O’Hare International Airport (USA)
  • Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (Spain)
  • Denver International Airport (USA)
  • Dubai International Airport (United Arab Emirates)
  • Frankfurt Airport (Germany)
  • Heathrow Airport (United Kingdom)
  • San Francisco International Airport (USA)

If you don’t want to purchase Flight Simulator, then that’s okay too. You can play the standard edition of the game by subscribing to Xbox Game Pass. The first month of the pass costs only $1, and after that it's $10 per month. Be sure to check out whether your PC can run the game or not first.
