Mortal Kombat Mobile is celebrating its sixth anniversary this month. Players can expect a lot of new content arriving in the game, including Rain’s official debut along with an update for Shang Tsung. There’s also the return of a favorite limited-time event.
Limited-Time Event
As part of this year’s anniversary, the fan-favorite Relic Hunt is coming back for a limited time. This challenge mode has players fight across a series of towers to free Shao Khan. To do it, players need to collect Spirit Fragments hidden in the relics at the top of each tower.
Once enough Spirit Fragments are collected, players can unlock the Diamond Shao Kahn card, which can be leveled up to Fusion X. Players also get 50 Souls each day during the event period for free. The Relic Hunt event starts April 5 and ends April 12.
Bring in the Rain
As mentioned, Rain is making his debut in the game, and we're talking about the MK 11 version. This should make many players happy considering they've been requesting him for a long time. This newest Diamond fighter is already available and not afraid to show his Thunderous Wrath along with control over lightning and water.
MK11 Rain starts each match with one bar of Power and has a chance to immediately counterattack basic attacks of his opponent. His counterattack applies a debuff called "Soaked." The debuff slows opponents down and makes them more susceptible to additional damage from lightning attacks. Lightning attacks from Rain, teammates, and equipment can trigger the extra damage from the debuff.
Beware the Fatal Blow
MK11 Shang Tsung is also getting something with the anniversary celebration. His official Fatal Blow known as Shapeshifter’s Barrage is now available. With his magical powers, Shang Tsung can morph into the likes of Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and even Noob Saibot.
Shang Tsung's Visceral Punt, his MK 11 Brutality, is debuting as well. This can be obtained through the Sorcerer’s Tower equipment. To make this happen, players must equip the Diamond MK11 Shang Tsung with both the Soul Reaver's King Kobra Belt and Soul Reaver's Servant.
Mortal Kombat Mobile was launched as a tie-in mobile game for Mortal Kombat X. It was released on the App Store on April 7, 2015. The version for Android was released on Google Play on May 5, 2015.
