The last episode of ABC’s Once Upon a Time shows Gold (Robert Carlyle) seeking his ex-wife Milah (Rachel Shelley) to help Emma (Jennifer Morrison) find Hook (Colin O’Donoghue). Hades (Greg Germann) continues torturing Hook after he refuses to pick a friend to be stuck in the Underworld, ultimately dropping him into the River of Lost Souls. Emma arrives just in time to prevent him from falling into the River and the two reunite.
A flashback in the episode shows Rumple and Milah going to a healer for an antidote to treat their son’s snakebite. While Milah sends Rumple off to kill the healer, who asked for 100 gold coins for the antidote, she meets Killian.
Back in Storybrooke, Belle (Emilie de Ravin) is pregnant and Rumple learns this while checking up on her. This motivates Rumple to return home and make a deal with Hades, who asks him to sink the boat that can allow the heroes to escape the Underworld. Rumple also does what Hook refused to do, etching names on the three graves: Snow, Regina, and Emma. In order to prevent Milah from ratting out Rumple, he tosses her in the River of Lost Souls, thereby preventing her from ever moving on and meeting her son.
There’s more at stake for Rumple than reuniting with Belle: Rumple has signed off his second-born child while saving Baelfire’s life -- a decision that places the final nail in the coffin for his marriage with Milah. With Belle pregnant, this means their unborn child belongs to Hades.
Below are five things to know about episode 15:
1. Season 5 episode 15 is titled ‘The Brothers Jones.’
2. Episode 15 will be a Hook-centric episode, as the episode title suggests, and will feature both Killian and Liam Jones. The brothers will finally reunite in the Underworld.
3. Hook and Emma’s relationship will come to an interesting crossroads when Liam Jones disapproves of his younger brother’s love interest. In the episode promo, Emma is seen confiding in Regina (Lana Parrilla) that Liam thinks she is not good enough for Hook.
4. Is it possible that Hook will not return? According to the preview, yes. An emotional Emma confronts Hook, who tells her there is no point for him to go back when he can move on.
5. The last episode revealed that Belle is pregnant, and this will shift her relationship with Rumple significantly and make him a different person.
“It’s going to affect both of them,” executive producer Edward Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly. “As we saw in the premiere episode, Rumple lied to her. The question we get is, ‘He’s lied to her so many times, has he learned anything?’ And I think he has. When he finds out that she’s pregnant, it’s going to affect him, it’s going to affect her, it’s definitely going to affect his motivation. Rumple is a new person. We know why he grabbed that dagger, but we’re really going to understand more of where he’s coming from.”
