Rage 2 is almost here, and you know that it’s nearly time to kill dangerous mutants in a post-apocalyptic world devoid of law and order. But of course, this begs the question: when can you download Rage 2 and play it in all its violent and over-the-top glory?
Rage 2 is the latest multi-platform release by Avalanche Studios in conjunction with id Software. Publishing is handled by Bethesda. Rage 2 is a first-person shooter set in a huge open-world that is free to explore at any given time.
For PC players, you can download Rage 2 through Steam and Bethesda’s very own store. You need a Bethesda launcher for the latter though, which you can download and install through here. If you have pre-ordered any edition of the game, you will be able to get a huge headstart in downloading it. Preloading officially began last Friday, May 10. However, while you may have already pre-loaded the game by now, and Steam or Bethesda have installed it for you, you can only play once the launch date and time comes. These dates and times are different, depending on both platform and your territory. The Rage 2 unlock times on PC are as follows:
- For players in Australia, New Zealand and all of Asia, Rage 2 will unlock at 11:01 a.m. EDT on May 13.
- For players in North America, Rage 2 will unlock at 12:01 a.m. EDT on May 14.
- For players in the rest of the world, Rage 2 will unlock at 8:00 p.m. EDT on May 13.
For Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players, the same release dates and times apply:
- Pre-load times start at May 10 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
- AUS, NZ and Asia – 11:01 a.m. EDT on May 13
- North America – 12:01 a.m. EDT on May 14
- Rest of the World – 8:00 p.m. EDT on May 13
Bethesda has also released the minimum and recommended requirements for Rage 2 on PC. You can check out my in-depth piece on it here, as the recommended requirements are quite beefy. It’s worth taking this into consideration before you finalize your pre-order or purchase on PC:

- A 64-bit processor and operating system is required
- OS: Windows 7, 8.1, or 10 (64-Bit versions)
- Processor: Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
- Memory: 8GB RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB or AMD Vega 56 8GB
- Storage: 50 GB available space
