Season 6 of Rocket League Sideswipe will go live this November 16, and this one is special because it also marks the game’s first anniversary. Highlights of this upcoming new season include a new game mode, a crossover event, Season Challenges, and of course, the Rocket Pass.
For the Rocket Pass, everyone immediately unlocks the supercar-inspired R3MX. As they work their way up the tiers, they get two more cars which are the old-school Dingo and the luxury powerhouse Maverick G1.
Those who want more should target higher tiers. At Tier 49, for example, players can unlock the Stormwatch, a Universal Decal that works on every car in their garage. Tier 50, meanwhile, allows players to end with a blast through the Fireworks Goal Explosion.
New Mode
The Heatseeker mode has long been popular in Rocket League and it’s now debuting in Rocket League Sideswipe. In Heatseeker, when the ball is hit by a team or if the ball hits a goal rim, it automatically flies to the goal of the opposing team. In addition, each time the ball is hit by a player or the backboard, its speed increases. Heatseeker is replacing Volleyball mode in Ranked.
Crossover Event
In celebration of the game’s first anniversary, a Rocket League crossover event is live from November 16 to November 23. Those able to complete Challenge in Sideswipe earn the Octopus Player Banner for both games: Sideswipe and Rocket League. There are also Challenges where different anniversary-themed rewards can be unlocked in Sideswipe.
To enjoy the content of this crossover event, players need to log in to Sideswipe using the same Epic Games account they used for Rocket League.
Other Updates
Rewards for Season 5, which are Player Banners and Titles, are to be handed out after Season 6 is launched. In addition to new Seasonal Challenges and a new Rocket Pass, Season 6 also adds the Collision Mutator to Mutator Madness mode in Casual.
Rocket League Sideswipe is a standalone game offering the competitive car soccer gameplay of Rocket League on mobile platforms.
