Many rumors have circulated about the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 with no real indication of how the device might look. However, a render has surfaced, courtesy of the tech blog uSwitch , which supposedly shows blueprints of the unreleased smartphone and many possible features.
According to the video render, the Galaxy Note 6 may feature a USB Type-C port, which has been long rumored. iDigitalTimes suggested in March that Samsung’s introduction of USB Type-C for its Galaxy TabPro S tablet was paving the way for USB Type-C on future devices like the Galaxy Note 6 and the Galaxy S8.
USB Type-C is distinguished by is universal port, which allows users to insert it into a device from any direction. It also conducts more power than a micro USB port, which allows for faster charging and data transfer on devices. Recent devices including the LG G5 and HTC 10 all have USB Type-C ports.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 may also have 153.5mm x 73.9mm x 7.9mm dimensions, making it similar in size to the Galaxy S7 Edge. The S7 Edge has a 5.5-inch display; however, many reports have suggested the Galaxy Note 6 might have a 5.8-inch display. Currently all features of the Galaxy Note 6 remain unconfirmed.
Some rumors have also suggested the Galaxy Note 6 may include a curved display, a claim now backed up by the render, which showcases a curved display device. Samsung has not released a curved display smartphone since the Galaxy Note Edge released in 2014, and was notorious for having a price tag close to $1000. The manufacturer stated 2015 it made the flat screen Galaxy Note 5 and the curved display Galaxy S6 Edge+ two different devices because making a curved display phablet with an S-Pen stylus would have been too expensive.
Finally, tech blog SamMobile suggests that the influx of sensor on the top of the device render could indicate it may include iris scanning technology. A report revealed Samsung recently filed paperwork to trademark eye scanning technology under the names Galaxy Iris and Galaxy Eyeprint in Korea, Europe and the U.S. Iris scanning is expected to be the latest form of security-focused biometrics.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is expected to be announced in mid-August. Recent rumors suggest Samsung may skip the Galaxy Note 6 name in favor for the Galaxy Note 7.
