Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone Tuesday morning and also revealed pricing availability details for the 2016 flagship. The Galaxy Note 7 will be available at the major U.S. carriers AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon Wireless starting Aug. 19. Prices will vary by carrier.
The Galaxy Note 7 will be available for preorder starting Aug. 3. Carriers will offer the color options Blue Coral, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx.
Along with the sale of any Galaxy Note 7 handset, carrier will offer customers the choice between a Gear Fit 2 fitness tracker or 256GB microSD card for free. Consumers purchasing with Samsung Pay for the first time will have a chance to win $20 in rewards for qualifying purchases. In addition to Samsung Experience Shops at Best Buy, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will also be available at retailers including Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Car Toys, Sam’s Club, Target and select Walmart stores. Prices will vary by retailer.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 features a 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 resolution) dual-edge curved display, a Quad Core (2.15GHz Dual + 1.6GHz Dual), 64 bit, 14nm process chip, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with microSD expansion up to 256GB, a 12-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera, both with f/1.7 aperture, a 3,500mAh fast and wireless charging battery and the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system. New and special Galaxy Note 7 features include USB Type-C, an iris scanner and fingerprint scanner and IP68 water, wind and dust resistance.
Samsung Gear VR and Gear 360 Release Date
Samsung also announced the availability of its new model of its Gear VR headset and Gear 360 camera. Both connected devices will be available for purchase starting Aug. 19. The Gear VR, which will support USB Type-C and Micro USB ports, will be compatible with the Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ and will be available for preorder Aug. 3.
