The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will favor their 2015 predecessors, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, in terms of design, according to several reports and leaks. That doesn’t mean the devices won’t have their unique nuances.
One design tweak for the Galaxy S7 is an overall curvier look, according to SamMobile . The devices will take after the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, featuring curves at the edges of its back pane. This will differ from the Galaxy S6 as the prior was flat on both sides. The curves on the S7 will also be more pronounced than those on the Note 5, according to the tech blog.
The curvier aspect of the Galaxy S7 may make it look a lot like the HTC One A9 , which released in October. Many have noted the A9 is very similar to the iPhone 6s in terms of design. However, Samsung new glass and metal design, which was first introduced on the Galaxy S6, has also been compared to older iPhone models.
Another design tweak for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge is a thinner camera module, according to tech informant @OnLeaks . The module sticks out just .8mm, in comparison to the 1.7mm extension on the Galaxy S7. There appears to be no usecase for this change other than aesthetics. Current rumors suggest the Galaxy S7 may feature a 12-megapixel rear camera .
Samsung recently confirmed it will host an Unpacked event Feb. 21 in Barcelona. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are expected to be announced at this event, in addition to a 360-degree camera, likely called the Samsung Gear 360.
