Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment , the latest in a series of villainous alternative campaigns for the beloved retro action adventure title, finally has a launch window. And it’s sounds like the next Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove expansion is going to put a bow on an eventful spring for the Shovel Knight community.
Earlier this month, we learned Shovel Knight will be one of several current third-party games making the jump to Nintendo Switch. Yacht Club Games also confirmed plans to introduce a new cooperative mode, release a Body Swap mode and repackage/rebrand the entire Shovel Knight collection. Going forward, Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove will act as a shell for the full suite of Shovel Knight releases -- currently, the base game (Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope) and the first expansion, Plague of Shadows -- and will expand to include Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment later this year. And it turns out we won’t even be waiting that much longer for the next expansion.
According to a new update on the PlayStation Blog, Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment will make its long-awaited debut sometime this April. Unfortunately, the expansion still doesn’t have a specific launch date but Yacht Club has confirmed consumers don’t have to own the original Shovel Knight campaign if they’re interested in Specter of Torment . The PS Blog post also confirms Body Swap mode, which is compatible with all existing Shovel Knight campaigns, will debut alongside the game’s next expansion.
